Free Art Classes – 2018
Sign up in the Art Room – Open 24/7 - Join classes any time during the season
 *******************
BEGINNING PASTELS Jan. 8 - Mondays - 9 a.m. to noon
Jan Welch – Instructor
The only prerequisite for this soft pastel class (Jan emphasizes this is not oil pastels) is the willingness to get messy, laugh, and have fun. It is for beginners through intermediates, and you don't have to be able to draw. We will work on the building up of colors to produce paintings of rich texture and vibrant colors. You may start this class at any time during the season but it is highly recommended to come to the first class. Do not buy supplies before the first class.
 *******************
OIL PAINTING Jan. 9 - Tuesdays – 9 a.m. to noon
Steve Bendy – Instructor
Beginners and accomplished artists are welcome for this oil painting class. Books are available for assistance in choosing your subject, or bring along a favorite photo.
 *******************
ACRYLICS Jan. 10 - Wednesdays - 9 a.m. to noon.
Sandy Yonke  Instructor
This class is an introduction to painting with acrylics, starting with the basics and moving toward more advanced work. Instruction books are available for selecting designs and paint colors needed.
Supplies: An assortment of brushes suitable for acrylics and paints (Sandy prefers to use bottles of Americana or Delta Ceramcoat), and a project to paint. Please call Sandy for more details, or come to the first class.
  *******************
BEGINNING WATERCOLOR Jan. 11 - Thursdays - 9 a.m. to noon.
Tommye Still – Instructor
If you are a true beginner, this is a class for you. No drawing or painting experience is necessary. After the first few lessons, which concentrate on tips and techniques, we will complete a painting each week. Feel free to join us whether you are new to the exciting world of watercolor, or would like to polish your skills.
Supplies: See separate sheet for a list. Some supplies are available so you can try this fun medium with a minimum of expense. If watercolor painting is new to you, please call Tommye for advice before buying supplies.
  *******************
BEGINNING DRAWING Jan. 11 - Thursdays - 1 to 4 PM
Alice Nash – Instructor
Beginning Drawing explores the basics of drawing. The first 6 weeks are structured to cover a discussion of art and supplies, proportions, shading and texture, perspective – two- and three-dimensional images, drawing what you see, and a variety of methods. The remainder of the classes, the student will work on projects individually. Minimum Supplies: Drawing pencils (at least No. 2 pencil), white paper (sketch book 8X10), soft eraser (Magic Rub and kneaded)
  *******************
INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR Jan 12 - Fridays - 9 to noon
Janice Matol  - Instructor
Janice wants students to come and experience the spontaneity of watercolor. She says “Paint to please yourself and you will find that there are many admirers out there. If you simply focus on pleasing yourself, your paintings will reflect this JOY.” The fluid nature of water and color are a beautiful blend. This will be an opportunity to meet other watercolor artists and explore this enchanting medium. In the words of Henri Matisse “Creativity takes courage.” So grab your brushes and join us.
